They lived at such a height to protect the young Swablu from potential predators, which were few and far between, and humans. Her mother had belonged to a trainer, but the Altaria didn't like being confined and escaped. Although they had a fairly solitary lifestyle, when Iliana learned to fly, they began to descend towards lower ground... only to be caught by her mother's trainer. Both were kept by the human, who treated them rather decently, until the fateful day when her mother perished during a thunderstorm that sent a tree branch toppling down on her as she went to retrieve Iliana from playing with nearby Pokémon. Guilt consumed Iliana, and she refused to accept comfort from anyone and everything, singing and humming to keep herself from completely withdrawing. Eventually she lightened up, but it came at a bad time... because the rebellion began. She was swept into the fighting without really understanding why she was helping, but knowing she was helping potential friends spurred her into helping. Iliana found her singing voice useful in enchanting the humans, and her feathery dancing, a trait inherited from her Swanna father, also kept them distracted so that Pokémon could be freed. There was no love lost for the trainer that had owned her mother, and as the rebellion ended, Iliana began to embrace her new freedom. [/style] | |
