tell me what you want to hear~The gentle pattering of rain against the trees above created an ambient, peaceful atmosphere, the kind Iliana really enjoyed. Fluttering her cottony wings, the elegant Dragon swooped down low from the treetops, her wings grazing draped vines and closely packed trunks as she made her way towards the best part of the eastern lands - in her opinion at least! Humming a soft tune she'd learned from her mother, Iliana eventually looked down to see the river snaking below, chuckling softly.
Flaring her wings, the Altaria slowed to a near stop and lowered herself gracefully onto the surface of the refreshing water, a ripple shuddering through her as she grew even more excited about cleaning herself off. Though from afar she looked relatively spotless, it was her inherent nature to dutifully preen herself on a daily (more like hourly) basis, just to be sure her wings were in pristine condition. She'd picked a good spot to rest, it seemed; this part of the river moved at fairly slow pace.
Satisfied, Iliana bent her neck and lowered her head to the water, dousing her face and flinging it back on herself, shaking her wings and body to make sure the droplets got everywhere. Unable to stop herself, she began to hum loudly, content that she seemed to be very much alone in her cleaning ritual. (To be clean is such a wonderful thing!) Iliana then settled into methodically cleaning her wings, tuning out her surroundings as she did so.. which didn't seem like an incredibly intelligent thing to do.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

There at the river a young deerling fawn was splashing in the water. Not because he had any particular want to be clean but because he saw a few slow swimming water pokemon and decided to play. He would paw at the water near the fish and when the tried to come near him he would playfully dodge away, all the while laughing with joy. Water coated his little body but he was having so much that at first he didn't notice the droplets of water hitting him from the sky until it became a steady patter. The deerling cut his play short as he dashed from the riverbank under the cover of a nearby bush. The young pokemon sighed and laid his head on the ground, deciding to take a nap as he waited for the rain to stop so he could begin playing again.
What woke the young pokemon was a beautiful humming sound. His ears perked and he looked around as at first he didn't see anything but then he heard a splash. His dark eyes locked onto the form of a large white and blue bird-looking pokemon. He wasn't sure if his mother had taught him about this pokemon so he wasn't sure if it would try to eat him or not... Perhaps he should just run away to be sure that he would remain safe.
The little deer pokemon actually rose to his hooves before a new note of singing came to his young ears. He was caught. The sound was lovely and he found himself unable to run away. He could only stare, entranced, as the blue and white pokemon cleaned her already pristine body. Rannoch found her beautiful and this led him to take a step towards her, then he took another and another until he was a mere foot away from the river. Rain splattered on his young body but he didn't care right now. "Hello, Miss, I think your singing is beautiful."
He didn't know if this lady would eat him or not but how could someone who sang so well ever be mean enough to try and make a meal of him? "You're not going to eat me... Are you?" His large, dark eyes peered curiously at the fluffy pokemon as his tail quivered in anticipation of her response. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

tell me what you want to hear~The cool rain streaked down her skin, which she ignored for the most part, thoroughly intent on inspecting her wings. Perhaps her affinity for water came from her Swanna father, which wasn't a bad thing... water was clean and pure. And it thrived with life; wherever there was water, there were Pokémon. Iliana wasn't entirely naive to believe herself completely alone here, but nothing was in her sight range, which satisfied her enough.
Lifting her neck up, still humming, the Altaria deemed herself clean... for now. Sweeping the river bank on each side with her bright eyes, she wondered if the rain still falling above had driven the local inhabitants into hiding until it passed. Rain had never been a nuisance to her, but she had to admit that warm, sunny days were the best. However, the humid atmosphere made the rain pleasant, so there was no use in complaining about it.
Iliana was gazing into the distance, lost in her melody, when the sound of a young voice speaking out startled her rather badly. "Goodness!" the fluffy bird squeaked out, gently shifting her floating body to gaze at the Deerling that had called to her. A rosy blush painted her cheeks as he complimented her singing, Iliana bashfully looking away. "O-oh my, you think so? Thank you..." she replied demurely, lowering her head.
His question changed her embarrassment into gentle amusement, and she couldn't quite restrain herself from offering a small laugh. "Eat you? Dear me, no. I'm not a meat-eater, fortunately," Iliana replied. Truthfully, the whole idea of hurting another Pokémon for the sake of sating hunger made her extremely uncomfortable and twitchy. Regarding the young Deerling with her clear blue eyes, the dragon tilted her head to one side, wondering why he was alone. "I don't mean to pry, b-but... what brings you to this river by yourself?" Iliana inquired. It troubled her to see such a youthful Pokémon wandering around on his own. "Oh! Pardon my manners... my name is Iliana." [/blockquote][/blockquote]

The deerling smiled at the fluffy bird when she lowered her head. "Oh no, I don't think so, I know so. I wish I could sing like that..."
He lowered his eyes shyly and murmured more to himself than to the kind bird, "Or I wish I could sing at all..." His ears twitched as he raised his head once more to the blue pokemon. He took her laughter as a sign that she wouldn't eat him even before she spoke the words. His small tail wagged back and forth happily at her answer though and he gave a small leap of joy. He thought it was great that she wasn't a meat-eater! Perhaps she could even be his friend then! "I don't mean to pry, b-but... what brings you to this river by yourself?" That question made him become embarrassed and quite himself. He lowered his small head once more and scuffed the ground with one of his hooves. It was a question that most pokemon asked him upon meeting him for the first time but it still made him uncomfortable to have to answer it. After all, the loss of his parents and herd was still raw in his young mind and it probably would always remain so no matter how much time passed. So, Iliana was her name? It wasn't bad and he rather liked it. "It's nice to meet you Ms. Iliana. I'm Rannoch and the reason I'm alone here is..." Well, no need to stall so he may as well just get it over with. So, in a rather subdued voice he continued on. "The reason I'm alone here is that I'm an orphan so I go everywhere alone. At least until I find another herd." He figured that was highly unlikely as he'd never seen another deerling and sawsbuck in the area. His mother had talked of one that lay to the West bu he had no desire to ravel there alone. A young deerling on its own in the East was bad enough but trying to travel to a whole new area presented even more danger. He was brave but he wasn't stupid.
